Finally! The New Adventure Begins…

So, I keep waiting to have a few minutes to write our news, but those few minutes keep slipping away!! Therefore, this will not be the longest post, but hopefully it will be encouraging news!

As I have said in my last post, we have been in this season of waiting that has been covered by an amazing, clearly holy sort of peace. So, it was further proof of that miracle that we were not in the least bit ruffled when we were informed that they had hired new houseparents and that the clock was ticking!!!

We knew the day was coming, and we had met the potential houseparents ourselves. So, while the news was no surprise, the accompanying timeline of 8 weeks to exit was definitely a reality check. But we knew that God was in all of this, as He has clearly been, so we just said “OK” and waited to see what He would do. Amazingly, within 3 days, we had 7 job possibilities pop up. Not offers, by any means, but after a really long time with no nibbles or anything, it was pretty stunning. Go God go!!

So, we printed out all the opportunities and began to pray. We had the kids pray with us, and we daydreamed about what each potential could look like. None of them felt quite right, so we kept on pressing in, waiting. The following Sunday was a busy day at our church. There were baby dedications, and a ton of our family were there along with a lot of new people. We try and greet as many people as we can, but this particular service I knew it was a bit of a lost cause. There was one couple, though, that had been there before and that I had really felt a connection with (looking at you, A&E). I told Kirk, “I know it is crazy, but you really need to go talk to them! I will get the kids and our family and everything, just go catch up with them.” He did, and long story short, they had what would be the perfect job opportunity for us.

If you haven’t been able to tell, we are a little bit picky. And the ideal job for this next season would be nothing less than: somewhere we could work or be together, here in Houston, provide enough so I wouldn’t have to work as well, allow Kirk to go back to school, as well as be restful…… As we had looked over and prayed for these things, we knew they were pretty incompatible. Unless we won the lottery, this just wasn’t going to happen. And then, God happened….

See, this job our friends had is as an on-site manager for a storage unit. It includes an apartment right there, so during lunch and down times, Kirk can check in with us. The only down-side is that it can be a bit slow at times, so our friend has used that time to do coursework online….. say what?!?! Could it be!? Why yes, that is a job that meets every desire we had. What is that, Matthew? Oh yes:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. ” Matthew 7:7

and Phillipians?

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Phillipians 4:19

and, of course, our Lifehouse favorite:

“For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the LORD. ‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope.”

and so many other verses that promise His provision, His care, His good will for us.

Amen and AMEN! What a blessing, honor, and gift to be provided for by our God. In His timing, for His glory. So, things keep moving along swiftly. The new houseparents are here (and amazing!!! I could not have designed two better people to pass the torch to!) And ready to move in to their/our new/old house! We are packing like crazy and should be out by July 1 and ready for our new season, one we can already feel is a preparation for some new adventure that God has for us…

Please pray that we will continue to walk in His will, that our trust and obedience will increase, that we would write this miracle (for sure!) on our hearts and place it as a memorial stone to remember God’s goodness when the inevitable storms come again..

Love you all!
Keep up with us on this crazy new season!
