I wanted to share a fun story!
A few days ago, Kirk was out running errands. As he was driving home, he drove past a man carrying groceries. He felt God stir in his heart to stop and talk to this man. He responded as he drove past, “Lord, I pray for this man…” Kirk said he practically felt God laugh, and say, that’s great, but what I wanted was….
So, Kirk turned around and asked the guy if he wanted a lift. As he talked to him, the man opened up a little about his life and asked if Kirk was in ministry. As Kirk said yes, the guy said he knew, since Kirk had stopped for him. Then, out of nowhere, he said, do you happen to be going to Austin?
Kirk was shocked. He replied, “yeah, we are moving there soon, and we will be making some trips back and forth there in the next couple months.” The man said he had been out of work, but had some contacts in Austin. He was hoping to try and get some interviews lined up, and then maybe, could he get a ride there and back? Kirk told him that could probably be worked out on one of his trips out there. They exchanged contact information, and they texted a little later.
And there, in that small act of obedience, Kirk met a divine appointment. By saying YES to God, Kirk got the chance to meet this man. By saying YES to serving him, Kirk earned a bit of this man’s trust.
These verses came to mind as he told me this story:
“Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.” Ephesians 6:7-8
“Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” Hebrews 13:1
I am so blessed by my husband’s obedience and servant heart. Pray that Kirk will have wisdom and discernment as he continues to get to know this man, and that he can find ways to love him and share the Truth in love with him about the One who really cares about his needs.
So excited to see ALL that God has planned for this next season!
